Francesco Totti clarifies “I’ve never driven a Coach out” at Roma and thinks “more globally” at 40.

Despite his glittering career at Stadio Olimpico, Er Pupone has occasionally been accused of using his influence to undermine tacticians he doesn’t like.

“There have been discussions,” Totti explained to Sky.

“I’m not saying every day, but they happen. If they didn’t that wouldn’t be normal. I’ve never driven out a Coach and I’ve never brought in a Coach I wanted.

“I’m part of the group and I’ve always pulled in the same direction as the club. I’ve always taken people head-on, I’m consistent in myself.”

Totti was then asked if he feels he’s got wiser with age?

“Yes, of course. At 40 you think more globally, not just about football. I’m lucky enough to have a wonderful family with three beautiful children.

“I think 50 per cent about family and 50 per cent about football. When I come here I let it all out, and when I’m at home I leave the football stuff outside.”

Finally, the Giallorossi legend was asked which opponent from his career he has the most respect for.

“I respect them all. Respect is what counts in football.”
