The Spaniard is heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge in the summer and the Nerazzurri are seen as leading the clubs interested in picking him up.

However, with currently commanding a salary of £9m a season, around €11m, Torres is reported by the Daily Mail as after a ‘compensation’ payment of a £10m, around €12m, from the Blues, to agree to leave at the end of the season and take what would almost certainly be a pay-cut to go elsewhere.

Chelsea and the player are otherwise described as both open to his eventual departure at the end of the season.
