According to the Express and the Mirror, Liverpool are giving serious thought to bringing 30-year-old Torres back to Anfield, where he last truly hit form.
That would in turn free up the Reds to release Balotelli on loan just six months after his arrival from Milan – where, ironically, he was replaced by Torres.
Sampdoria opened the door to welcoming SuperMario this week, but Napoli seem a more likely option for the fiery forward.
“Balotelli has been slaughtered by the media,” Samp President Massimo Ferrero told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He doesn’t have anyone who will protect him. If he were to swallow his pride and come to a smaller team like Samp, he’d go back to playing in a calm fashion.”
