“Fiorentina are the most technically gifted side in Serie A, but this is not a game like any other for us,” said Sarri.
“We would like our fans just for one day to not feel inferior to the Viola. We must play with heart and soul, going beyond the desire for three points.
“We can counter their quality with a sense of belonging, something Fiorentina do not possess. Many of our players grew up with Empoli and moved through the ranks, so they feel this spirit.”
Matias Vecino – on loan from Fiorentina – is suspended and difficult for Empoli to replace.
“We don’t have another player with his characteristics. There are those like Moro who can give more intensity, like Signorelli for more balance or pace with Laxalt. Anyone I choose can have a good game.
“Vincenzo Montella has stronger players, but mine are more humble. You can’t have everything in life. I’ve always seen him with the same calm attitude and he transmits that to the team. He was born to be a Coach.”
