With Uruguay’s elimination confirmed after they were beaten 2-0 in Friday’s quarter-final against France, it was thought the deal would quickly be made official.

However, Sky Sports reports that while talks have progressed well between the clubs, Torreira is still some way off being in a position to undergo an Arsenal medical.

Many of the elements of what will be a £26m deal are reported to have been agreed, but the London club are still yet to negotiate personal terms with the 22-year-old.

This is not expected to be an issue, although it appears the Gunners will have to wait a little longer to secure official confirmation of Torreira's signing.
