Torino beat Brommapojkarna 3-0 in Sweden this evening in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round clash.

Giampiero Ventura named his strongest possible line-up for the clash in Stockholm as the Toro looked to get their European adventure off to the best possible start.

Despite missing Alessio Cerci, Matteo Darmian and Fabio Quagliarella because of injury, the likes of Omar El Kaddouri and Antonio Nocerino all took their places in the XI.

It was the home side though who got off to the brighter start. After only four minutes Jacob Larsson tested Daniele Padelli, but the goalkeeper was equal to the effort.

The visitors slowly started to show their class however, and on two occasions went close to getting that vital away goal. Marcelo Larrondo and El Kaddouri both hit the target, and were both unlucky not to score.

The Granata were all over their hosts at this point, and towards the end of the half made their advantage pay.

Captain Pontus Segerstrom took down Larrondo inside the area, and up stepped the striker to score from the penalty spot right on half time.

After the break, with the man advantage Ventura’s men were always going to be favourites, and they quickly doubled their lead on 53 minutes. Nocerino laid in the Argentine goalscorer, who headed the ball past Davor Blazevic.

And it was quickly three. With 58 minutes gone, a direct free kick from Barreto flew past the goalkeeper and ensured Il Toro would come away with the win.

The victory was almost slightly less convincing however, as Giuseppe Vives was shown a straight red card for a foul inside the area. Dardan Rexhapi took the resulting spot kick, but the Kosovan striker’s effort was saved by Padelli.
