Torino president Urbano Cairo looked to silence Milan’s interest in Alessandro Buongiorno, stating that he ‘doesn’t want to sell’ the defender.

The Rossoneri are looking around for options to bolster their defence this month after numerous injuries caused a lack of options at the back. Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori are all currently sidelined with physical issues.

Milan were one of a few clubs linked with a move for Buongiorno last month. The 24-year-old Italian centre back has been impressing with Torino over the last few seasons and recently penned a new contract with the club, lasting until June 2028.

Speaking to Radio Rai via Calciomercato.com, Cairo was firm when discussing Milan’s reported interest in Buongiorno.

“Milan have the money, but we renewed his contract until 2028. There’s no talking about him, I don’t want to sell him. He wants to stay at Torino, I want to keep him. He is growing a lot.”

Torino want at least €30m for Buongiorno, figures Milan are not planning to invest this month. Instead, they are looking at Brest’s Lilian Brassier, who would come far cheaper at around €12-13m. They could look to return for the Granata defender in the summer.
