Fiorentina were leading the race for Torreira, but Torino have now climbed in front thanks to several factors.

The first is the presence of coach Marco Giampaolo, who already worked with him at Sampdoria.

The other is that while the Viola only want him on loan with option to buy, Toro are prepared to purchase the player outright.

According to The Sun newspaper, the offer is in the region of €24m, so a lower figure than the €30m asking price.

The Times pointed to Fiorentina proposing €8m for the loan and another €16m option to buy.
