Luca Toni’s stint playing in the UAE could be over after just six months, with reports gathering pace that he will be released from his contract.

The former Palermo, Fiorentina and Bayern Munich striker only joined United Arab Emirates Pro-League side Al Nasr from Juventus at the end of January, but is believed to be on his way out having struggled to impress for the team coached by Walter Zenga.

The former Palermo, Fiorentina and Bayern Munich striker only joined United Arab Emirates Pro-League side Al Nasr from Juventus at the end of January, but is believed to be on his way out having struggled to impress for the team coached by Walter Zenga.

“The technical committee, following consultations with the Coach, has decided Toni will not continue with the Nasr team next season,” a source told thenational.ae this week.

“An official announcement about Toni and the other foreign players will be made in the coming days.”

Should the 35-year-old be released and wish to continue to play, he will be looking for his 15th different professional club.
