Sandro Tonali reportedly showed up for an interrogation with the FIGC Prosecutor with a medical certificate to prove his gambling addiction but he may have bet on Brescia matches too before joining Milan.
Tonali was heard by the Turin and FIGC Prosecutors earlier this week and could be handed a ban of at least one year by Wednesday, October 25.
The midfielder’s agent Beppe Riso said on Tuesday that his client was suffering from a gambling addiction and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, this was confirmed by a medical certificate provided by the Newcastle star in his latest interrogation with the FIGC Prosecutor.
As highlighted by Gazzetta, this means Tonali has been dealing with the disease for many years. The 23-year-old has admitted to gambling on Milan games, but according to Gazzetta, he may have also bet on Brescia matches when under contract with Le Rondinelle.
However, it is believed Tonali is not suspected of match-fixing as he always bet on their former clubs to win.
Contrary to his compatriot Nicolò Fagioli, Tonali has not accumulated debts due to gambling, according to Gazzetta, but the Juventus midfielder has said it was Tonali to suggest him an app to place illegal bets online in 2021.
