Jeremy Toljan insists he joined Sassuolo because “Roberto De Zerbi has a very interesting style of football” reminiscent of Julian Nagelsmann.
The right-back completed his loan move from Borussia Dortmund for €2.5m, with option to buy for another €4.5m next summer.
“It is a real pleasure for me to be here, as Sassuolo are a great club for any player. The team plays some beautiful football and I am very happy to experience Serie A,” said the German who turns 25 next month.

“Sassuolo do remind me of Hoffenheim and I was aware of the similarities. It’s a positive thing, as young players need clubs where they can be given the chance to grow and improve.
“De Zerbi was a big motivating factor in my decision to come here, as he has a very interesting style of football and I believe he can make the most of my qualities.
“I heard he has a lot in common with (former Hoffenheim Coach) Nagelsmann, as both like to play the ball and shift systems.
“My first aim is to learn the language so that I can be an integral part of the squad, win and play as much as possible.”
Nagelsmann worked with Toljan at Hoffenheim, but has just taken a new role at RB Leipzig.
