Thiago Silva warns Milan that “a team that wants to win the Scudetto has to also win the derby.”

The Rossoneri are top of the table and go head-to-head with reigning champions Inter this evening.

“We have done many positive things so far, but they are not enough,” the Brazilian told Milan Channel.

“A team that wants to win the Scudetto has to also win the derby. It won't be easy, but this season is different and if we win then we'll be six points ahead of the Nerazzurri.

“A team that wants to win the Scudetto has to also win the derby. It won't be easy, but this season is different and if we win then we'll be six points ahead of the Nerazzurri.

“Last season Inter conquered everything there was to win and perhaps this year they don't have the same hunger.

“In any case, Inter remain a very strong side, but Milan are also excellent and we will put in a great performance.”

The Rossoneri are the favourites going into the game, but Thiago Silva knows in a derby that is not always an advantage.

“In the derby you have to stay concentrated for the whole 90 minutes, as all it takes is one misplaced pass to concede a goal.

“At this moment Samuel Eto'o is the player who makes the difference for them. He is playing the way Ronaldinho used to.”

With Alexandre Pato and Pippo Inzaghi injured, it's very likely Ronaldinho will start the Derby della Madonnina despite being dropped for the last two games.

“Ronaldinho is a bit sad when he's on the bench, as he is a player who always loves being on the pitch.”
