Cyril Thereau says there are a lot of quality players at Fiorentina after they thumped Verona 5-0.

Following two disappointing defeats to start the season, the Viola finally got their campaign up and running by dismantling the Scaligeri at the Bentegodi.

“There are a lot of quality players here and we have got on well straight away,” Frenchman Thereau said after scoring from the penalty spot on his debut.

“That is to the credit of the boss, too.

“In the first half we were winning the ball back high up the pitch, then everything was easier.

“It was a superb debut – five goals without conceding any. We can go back to Florence happy.”

The former Udinese man added that Coach Stefano Pioli had assigned him with penalty duties ahead of today’s game.

“The penalty? Pioli told me to take it before the match, this club has faith in me.

“I wanted to come here and I hope to enjoy myself and repay the faith.”
