The midfielder arrived on loan from Barcelona, having spent the last 18 months at Porto.

“I want to salute all the Fiorentina fans and declare ‘Forza Viola!’ for the first time,” he said on the club’s official website.

“This will be a truly fascinating challenge for me. It was a very long day and I’m very happy to be in Florence.

“The Primera Liga and Serie A are two very different tournaments, but I am here to put my quality at the service of the team.

“I already know Marcos Alonso, Borja Valero, Mario Suarez and Verdù, who was my former teammate at Espanyol. The fact we have so many Spanish players in the squad will certainly help me settle in.

“I will be at the stadium to see the game against Torino and I really hope to be cheering on a Fiorentina victory.”

Tello also wrote a message on Twitter: "Thank you Fiorentina for putting your faith in me and letting me play in the most beautiful city in Italy. I won't let you down."
