FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio hopes for “a positive debut” as Antonio Conte’s Italy take on Norway tonight.

It’s the first competitive match in charge, a Euro 2016 qualifier that kicks off in Oslo at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

“I am relaxed ahead of this game,” Tavecchio told Sky Sport Italia.

“The Coach is firing up the players and I hope it will be a positive debut for the Nazionale.”

The Azzurri already beat 10-man Holland 2-0 in a friendly last week, which was Conte’s first outing on the bench.

Tavecchio was also asked about his reform plans to help young Italian players break through in Serie A.

“In Italy there are 700,000 registered players and few have been properly evaluated. If we go looking into this talent pool, some strong players could emerge.

“We will build Federal centres and I hope they can also provide a valid support for the Nazionale. I want to help favour youth to avoid the current very strong presence of foreigners in our Leagues.”
