FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio says it will be “very difficult” to replace Antonio Conte as Italy CT.

The current Azzurri boss is stepping-down to take over Chelsea after the European Championships, and so far a successor has not been named.

“Replacing Conte will be very difficult,” Tavecchio told ANSA.

“But even when the Pope dies another one comes. So far we’ve only given some indications, we’ll create a technical area and then we’ll have a CT.”

Tavecchio also discussed Italy’s chances in France this summer.

“The Euros is a competition of such magnitude that we hope to make a good impression. We’re going into it a bit bruised, but with the desire to do well.

“We have our technical and sporting heritage and a CT who has the utmost respect for the culture of sacrifice.

“The ball is round, so the results will depend on a lot of factors.”
