Carlo Tavecchio has made clear Antonio Conte will face no pressure from Puma, and that Italy have signed a great Coach in him.

The 45-year-old yesterday put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Italian Football Federation, which is being partly funded by national team sponsors Puma.

“I define Conte as a leader. He is the person that I wanted so as to provide a jolt to our situation,” Tavecchio has told Radio 24 today.

“I am amazed by the controversy on his wage. They do not understand that the country is asleep and that Conte is also an investment in the Italian brand.

“Conte will spend funds in Italy that come from the United States. We were interested in a great Coach and we have signed him through convenient conditions.

“I am very satisfied. It is the start of a new era in marketing.

“But will there be any pressure from sponsors? Puma? Conte is independent and will choose who he wants to.

“There will be no pressure on him. Puma will not decide any line-ups. We are starting to talk rubbish, we needed a Coach, the greatest, and we have him.”
