Igli Tare insists Lazio do not regret failing to bring in an understudy for Ciro Immobile and probably won’t sign anyone in January either, despite this injury setback.
The game with Atalanta kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).
Immobile was last season’s Capocannoniere in Serie A and Lazio’s top scorer so far this term as well, but has been ruled out potentially until 2023 with a thigh strain.
“The team loses a lot, because he is the captain, the best striker in Serie A, but at the same time there are other players who can give an important contribution,” Tare told DAZN.
“We hope tonight there will be a good performance from those who try to take his place.”
Considering there is no understudy at all to Immobile in the squad, will Lazio try to bring in a free agent or a loan striker in the January transfer window, or do they regret deciding not to replace Vedat Muriqi?
“No, because we considered it over the summer, had clear ideas on this project, but like every year towards the end of November we will get together with the coach and President to evaluate what we need or do not need.
“This is therefore not something new for us.”
