Lazio director Igli Tare insists their defeat to Empoli was “solely down to refereeing errors.”

The Aquile were beaten 1-0, but had two Miroslav Klose goals disallowed.

“We complained because the two goals were both in our view valid,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia.

“In a delicate moment like this, every single point is precious. I am sorry to be here talking about this, but it’s not the first time we’ve been subjected to refereeing errors.

“In a delicate moment like this, every single point is precious. I am sorry to be here talking about this, but it’s not the first time we’ve been subjected to refereeing errors.

“You can see Klose’s challenge on the first goal is fair, but even worse is the second goal, which is absolutely not offside.

“I think this defeat is solely down to refereeing errors. We were unable to play the game we wanted early on, but in the second half we did well and dominated with several clear scoring opportunities.”

Nonetheless, Lazio slide down to 10th place with one point from the last five rounds.

“This is not the campaign we wanted, we are aware of that, but also confident that we can emerge from this situation. It’s an issue of mentality, as a team built to fight for the top is struggling above all away from home.

“We expect a great reaction from this squad, as the quality is there.”
