Saphir Taider said he’s “back home” after returning to Bologna on loan from Inter.

The Algerian international had already played at the Stadio Dall’Ara from 2011 to 2013, before brief spells at Southampton and Sassuolo.

“When I first arrived here I was a kid, but still had two good seasons, earning call-ups for the World Cup and African Cup of Nations,” said the 23-year-old.

“I matured at Inter. I’m happy to be back home, as I know this place well. There were other offers, but with the opportunity to reflect with my family, I decided it was the best move to return.

“I am very motivated to do well for Bologna. Physically I am not at 100 per cent, but I was with Inter throughout pre-season training and played a few friendlies, so it shouldn’t take long to find match fitness.”
