After weeks of negotiations, Bologna have increased their capital with Massimo Zanetti, not American Joe Tacopina.

Tacopina had been in advanced talks to buy out the troubled Serie B club, but it looks as if his bid has failed.

Today Bologna released a statement confirming the increase in capital was underwritten by Zanetti.

In so doing, he also confirmed “his faith in the directors, the Coach and the team.”

Zanetti agreed to invest the extra money to keep the club afloat following a meeting with President Albano Guaraldi and Honorary President Gianni Morandi.

Zanetti is the head of coffee giant Segafredo.
