Alessio Tacchinardi has given his thoughts on Juventus’ Europa League credentials ahead of their quarter-final second leg with Lyon tonight.

The Old Lady take a 1-0 aggregate lead into the match but the former Bianconeri midfielder says the team should not take anything for granted.

“After 11 years Juventus have the chance to return to a European semi-final,” Tacchinardi told Radio Mana Mana Sport.

“For me, this is an important match despite the fact that some have a bad attitude towards the Europa League.

“Winning a trophy would be important and especially crucial if they want to aim for the Champions League next year.

“Juventus should follow the example of Atletico Madrid, who took a similar journey and now they are in the Champions League semi-finals.

“It has already been too long since Juve last won in Europe.”

The 38-year-old then states his belief that Carlos Tevez should start tonight’s game.

“I would play Tevez because it would send a strong message to the team. This is a match that should not be underestimated.

“There will be time for the team to recover as there is not another game for them until Monday evening.”
