The 32-year-old Polish shot stopper was quickly taken off the pitch in the dying minutes of the first half after having trouble breathing and being seen clutching his chest, forcing Juventus to quickly replace him with Mattia Perin.

Szczesny was visibly emotional as he came off the pitch and the scenes proved distressing, with many concerned that the Pole may have suffered a serious issue.

Szczesny posted a message on Instagram today, thanking the fans for their support and reassuring them of his condition.

“Well, that was scary! Thank you all for your kind messages and wishes of recovery. I’m fine, hoping to be back on the pitch as soon as possible!

“Big thank you to the medical staff at Allianz Stadium for their support and Mattia Perin for being our hero on the day!! Fino alla fine.”

Szczesny quickly received an outpouring of support on social media after the scare, with his former club Arsenal and Juventus’ opponents Sporting being just two clubs to give him their best wishes.

The 32-year-old Polish goalkeeper underwent a round of medical tests, which ruled out any issues.
