The representative of Lorenzo Insigne has confirmed that Sunderland made a move for the Napoli attacker.

Speaking to Radio CRC on Monday, Fabio Andreotti admitted that the Premiership club had come forward for the international, but the player wants to remain in Naples.

“The Sunderland rumour is true,” Andreotti stated. “But Lorenzo wants to stay here, even if it means earning less money.”

The wide attacker is contracted to the Stadio San Paolo outfit until June 2017, but he’s keen on getting himself fresh terms which would signify a wage increase.

“His renewal? We just want justice,” the agent continued. “Napoli still haven’t contacted us, we are waiting for them.

“We have clear ideas and he wants to stay. However, there have been clubs with enough courage to ask Napoli about his asking price.”

The 22-year-old Insigne returned to Napoli last summer after loan spells at Foggia and Pescara. He scored five goals in 37 League games last term.
