Giovanni Stroppa hopes history can repeat itself for Crotone after earning their first win of the season, beating Spezia 4-1.

“The result came from the performance. We had to win, we achieved it, I said beforehand that this could be decisive and I hope to be proven right. What I can confirm is that finally we brought home three points,” Stroppa told Sky Sport Italia.

It’s a huge turnaround, considering Crotone had failed to find the net in each of their previous four Serie A games.

“A few individuals have improved a great deal in recent weeks. It’s not a coincidence that Junior Messias did so well, that Arek Reca finally scored a goal and that Pedro Pereira provided that assist.

“It has been a difficult campaign, we never gave up, we always got compliments and no points, but we’re finally reaping the rewards of that work.”

Crotone famously made up for an awful start by securing safety on the final day in 2016, and then too, coach Davide Nicola picked up the first win in Week 11.

“We can only hope that it will prove as decisive as it was back then!”
