Sparta Prague have officially announced that they have sacked former Inter Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

The Italian joined the Czech side in the summer, with the aim of challenging city rivals Slavia Prague and Viktoria Plzen for the title.

However, the Rudí currently sit fifth in the table, 14 points off the top of the league and the weekend’s 1-1 draw with 10-man Brno appears to have been the last straw.

Sparta Prague have officially announced that they have sacked former Inter Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

However, the Rudí currently sit fifth in the table, 14 points off the top of the league and the weekend’s 1-1 draw with 10-man Brno appears to have been the last straw.

“Sparta have sacked head coach Andrea Stramaccioni following a disappointing start to the second part of the season and overall bad results this season,” a statement on the club’s website confirms.

“Andrea Stramaccioni will not continue as AC Sparta Prague head coach. The decision was taken by the executive sports management of the club and the board of directors. Stramaccioni has been sacked by the team with immediate effect.

“The club decided to remove the coach in response to the serious situation in which the first team finds itself.”

Sparta’s last two games were draws with the two bottom sides, and Stramaccioni’s overall record reads nine wins, six draws and four defeats.

Technical manager Leonidas Vokolos, assistant coaches Roberto Muzzi and Omar Danesi, fitness coaches Federico Pannoncini and Stefano Campari and analyst Vincenzo Sasso have also been sacked.

“His position was under review after the end of the first part of the season but unfortunately results and playing style didn't improve during the first three matches at the start of the second part of the season, despite the other transfers we’d made,” said general manager Adam Kotalík.

“The club decided to make a change and we wish Andrea all the best for his next chapter.”
