Carlos Tevez broke the deadlock after just eight minutes, but Claudio Marchisio only netted a second late on after Igor Bubnjic’s effort was ruled marginally offside.
“We had intended to contain the opening push from Juventus, as that is their characteristic above all on home turf,” Strama told Sky Sport Italia after the 2-0 defeat.
“Instead, Juve did well to make the most of our error to score and then we lost our way. Juventus played a great first half and probably deserved to be leading more than 1-0. They always start strong and in the opening 20 minutes are almost unstoppable.
“It was a different Udinese after the break, I introduced another midfielder to hold the ball better and we put together a series of corners. In my view we were actually the better team in the second half.”
Stramaccioni had changed their tactics at half-time, replacing Luis Muriel with Bruno Fernandes.
“I preferred to put Fernandes and Kone behind Di Natale, giving us superiority in midfield and helping us to create more scoring opportunities.
“It’s just a pity about the goal disallowed for centimetres. We had pushed and gone close to an equaliser before Marchisio’s goal.
“The only way to counter Juve’s strength is to take the initiative and dominance away from them, as they suffer when they don’t have the ball.”
