Juventus ‘keeper Marco Storari has apologised for his costly error in the Italian Cup Final defeat to Napoli.

The custodian, an understudy to Gigi Buffon, was given the gloves throughout Juventus’ Coppa Italia campaign this term.

He kept hold of them at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night, but gifted Napoli the lead when he brought down Ezequiel Lavezzi in the area.

Edinson Cavani converted the resulting spot-kick and Marek Hamsik made it 2-0 late in the game.

“I’d like to say sorry for my serious mistake,” the 35-year-old stated. “I hope that I get a chance to make up for it.”

Storari, three Serie A games this term, is set to remain as the club’s No 2 despite the expected summer arrival of teenage goalkeeper Nicola Leali from Brescia.
