Frosinone President Maurizio Stirpe calls Maurizio Zamparini’s allegations “offensive to the whole of football”.

The Palermo President implied earlier today that Verona had let the Canarini scored their last-minute winner yesterday, a result which saw the Rosanero fall to 19th.

“Frosinone Calcio and it’s chairman Maurizio Stirpe have taken note of the statements made today by the President of Palermo, Maurizio Zamparini, during a national radio broadcast,” an official statement began.

“We firmly and indignantly reject the content of the above, considering it offensive to the whole of football, the credibility of the game, the aforementioned club, its members and its supporters.

“Statements such as those in question, particularly in the moment in history in which they are located, feed the suspicion and shadows that Italian football, its directors, and everyone who works in it don’t deserve.

“Frosinone and its President say no to any inference and manipulation of results achieved on the pitch, which are solely the result of struggle and hard work every day.

“The club invites Mr Zamparini, should he have any evidence to back up the claims he made, to turn it over to the internal organs of sporting justice, namely the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.

“This duly clarified, Frosinone and its chairman Maurizio Stirpe communicate that they will now protect the good name and image of the club and its members through all channels, ordinary, civil and criminal, as well as sporting.”
