Roberto Calenda, the agent of Victor Osimhen, met with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to start negotiating a new contract.

The Partenopei are currently away on their pre-season retreat in Dimaro, where the Nigerian striker and his agent arrived on Tuesday afternoon.

Osimhen was the star of the show in Napoli’s Scudetto winning season and is keen to sign a new contract, despite the various links to clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

Pages eight to 10 of today’s Corriere dello Sport detail how Calenda met with De Laurentiis in a private room in the hotel in Trentino yesterday, where they had dinner together and started negotiating the terms of a new deal for Osimhen.

Whilst there’s still distance between the two parties, it was a positive step forward and it’s likely that the gap will start to close in the coming days.

There are disagreements in both the wages and the possible inclusion of a release clause, but the player is keen to resolve the issue once and for all in order to fully focus on the football.
