Sky Sport Italia claim that Inter technical director Marco Branca held talks with agent Claudio Vigorelli this morning.

The two parties are trying to reach a financial agreement seeing as the veteran nets €2.7m a season with the Beneamata.

Stankovic, 34, joined Inter in January 2004, six months before his contract at Lazio was set to expire.

The versatile midfielder made just three appearances for the outfit, totalling 124 minutes in Serie A, last season.

Stankovic has been linked with a possible return to his former Roman club or a future in the MLS.
