Parma mayor Federico Pizzarotti says the city's stadium should be barred for President Giampietro Manenti, but not for the players or the supporters.

The mayor and the President had a meeting today to discuss the future of the Emiliani in light of the club's crushing debts.

The meeting had a tense conclusion, as Manenti walked back to a police car pursued by a mob of angry supporters.

On from earlier statements, the mayor clarified that the meeting did nothing to relieve his concerns.

“I can assure you that our state of mind is as bad as it can get,” Pizzarotti has said after the meeting, as reported by ParmaLive.com.

“We were given no guarantees and we faced a person who beat around the bush.

“Manenti seemed to have no clear ideas, much less a feasible plan.

“I already called the President of the Lega and the Footballers' Union, now I'll call [FIGC President Carlo] Tavecchio because this situation has to be reined back in control.

“I don't think this person [Manenti] has any credibility with the city. I'd love to know where his money is supposed to be coming from, assuming it does come.

“I don't think the city deserves this person. What the city and the supporters deserve is transparency.

“We are considering the possibility of closing down the Tardini and placing a moratorium on its use, because we want to deal with a real intermediary.

“It's not closed to the team, the city or the supporters, and if some help comes in from the Lega or the courts of justice then we'll be first in line to cooperate.

“But this person, who still hasn't given us any guarantees, is not a credible intermediary for the city.”
