This would be possible in huge arenas like the Stadio Olimpico, which holds up to 70,000 people when completely full, but would be transformed into a 30,000-seater venue.
This would allow for social distancing, spreading people out in the stands, but the concern is that fans would not stick to their allotted seats and could try to congregate together.
It won’t just be football considering this situation, because in the Government decree announced last night, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte confirmed the lockdown measures are being eased everywhere.
“From May 18, shops, salons, hairdressers, bars, restaurants, pubs, museums and football training will resume, but all by respecting the rules and with the Regional authorities checking that the norms are adhered to. From May 25, we will reopen gyms, swimming pools and sports centres.
“From June 15, we can reopen theatres and cinemas.”
