Inter boss Luciano Spalletti says he will ‘keep dreaming’ of Luka Modric’s arrival until the transfer window shuts on August 18.

Inter beat Olympique Lyonnais 1-0 on Saturday, with Lautaro Martinez scoring the winner, but Spalletti used his post-match interview to confess his desire for Modric to leave Real Madrid and sign for the Nerazzurri.

“Modric? I’ll keep dreaming with the fans, plus the club have shown that they’re working in a consistent manner,” revealed the Coach.

“It’s clear that a player of his ability would be important to us. There are still some days of the window left. If Messi came up at the last minute, I’d gladly accept him.

“I repeat, I’ll keep dreaming with the fans, but we have what it takes to tackle what lies ahead.

"Lautaro and Icardi with Nainggolan? We’ll be playing lots of games and everyone will be managed.

“Lautaro knows how to handle the ball, he has the right face on every ball and he knows how to play as an attacking midfielder.

“As for the goal, Icardi made an extraordinary run, plus Dalbert has been very good during preseason.

“He has a bit of competition, but luckily we’ll have lots of games. I choose my teams carefully. Asamoah is also giving what we expected of him, and he gives us more solutions.”
