Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti insists the Scudetto is not his obsession and believes Inter made investments ‘worthy of a top club’ over the last three and a half years.

The Partenopei visit Inter at San Siro on Wednesday night. Spalletti’s side are the only unbeaten club in Europe’s top five leagues.

“During the break, we did what we had to, working on the things we need and assessing players coming back from the World Cup and those who went on holiday,” the coach said at a press conference.

“We’ve had good responses, but we are not starting again because, as I already said, we’ll start from where we left off. We began this amazing trip a year and a half ago and there are no stops, we will only rest when we know how it ends.

“Lobotka and Kvaratskhelia worked in the right way, and their performance against Juve Stabia was good. Kvara is unpredictable, he makes normal things become exceptional. He is an added value to us,” the coach continued.

“The Scudetto is your obsession, not mine. My obsession is to see this city explode in joy. We have an awareness of what we have done on the pitch, we’ll face a great team. We’ll play our brand of football which has given benefits to the team.

“Inter are a top team, over the last three and a half years, they’ve made investments worthy of a top European club. They know how to defend well and they will be tricky with counterattacks, leaving their two strikers against our two central defenders so we’ll need organisation and balance.”

Romelu Lukaku has only scored two goals so far, will he be the biggest threat for Napoli?

“How about Dzeko, Calhanoglu, and Skriniar? I’ve coached some of them and I know how much they’re worth, the value of these champions,” concluded Spalletti.

  1. @ruben_tino, he has already won more than you. You know who he is but he does not know who you are.

  2. Every Italian coach on earth god forbid they actually admit they could win something. By speaking about losing and accepting mediocrity is why they lose.
