Luciano Spalletti admired another Inter comeback through Mauro Icardi, even though Barcelona “are remarkable” in possession.

Malcom eventually found the breakthrough after numerous chances for the visitors and 60 per cent possession, but Mauro Icardi snatched a point at San Siro.

“It seemed as if the game was going to end 0-0, then there was this unexpected goal, but the reaction of the lads was fundamental,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It seemed as if the game was going to end 0-0, then there was this unexpected goal, but the reaction of the lads was fundamental,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“They poured forward and after Icardi scored the goal, he went to pull the ball out of the net and get everyone back to the centre-circle, as there were still a few minutes left and he wanted to win.

“We struggled in the first half, because as at Camp Nou, we had trouble keeping the ball. We went on the counter a few times and caused Barca some problems, but it was really difficult for us to take the weight off and hold the ball for a while. In that area, Barcelona are still stronger than anyone else.

“They are so good at passing it crisply and shrugging off defenders, it’s really remarkable to watch from the touchline. The timing is so good, as if you press them, they’ll immediately hit you in the space left behind.

“Barcelona went close to scoring two or three times, but the team played with courage and had the attitude than the crowd wanted, so we’re happy about that.”
