Luciano Spalletti warns his players they “can’t stay at Roma” if they’re afraid to face Porto tomorrow.

The Giallorossi face the second leg of their Champions League play-off, and will advance to the group stage with a win or a 0-0 draw.

“If someone is confused in dealing with the nerves, the risk, the danger then they’re also afraid of success,” Spalletti declared in his pre-match Press conference.

The Giallorossi face the second leg of their Champions League play-off, and will advance to the group stage with a win or a 0-0 draw.

“If someone is confused in dealing with the nerves, the risk, the danger then they’re also afraid of success,” Spalletti declared in his pre-match Press conference.

“If that’s how they do things, they can’t stay at Roma. If there’s tension about a game we’ve been wanting for eight months they they can’t be here, if we win they’d be afraid of the next game and there’d be stress in managing the result.

“That’s not for us.”

Spalletti also discussed the areas in which he believes his side must improve if they are to progress tomorrow.

“We can do more, the ball isn’t flowing as well as it should. We have to find a balance, and that balance has to be on a higher level, not lower.

“We need to improve in terms of the quality and speed with which we interpret the game.”

After missing most of the last two seasons with knee problems, is Kevin Strootman ready to play three games in a week?

“I wanted to have him play 30 games this season. There are 27 remaining.”
