Luciano Spalletti highlighted the special nature of Napoli’s Scudetto success and suggested that bringing joy to the fans ‘is the real happiness’.

The Partenopei mathematically secured their league title with a 1-1 draw away to Udinese earlier this week, confirming the team as Scudetto victors for the first time in 33 years. Spalletti transformed Napoli into one of the most electric teams in Europe this season and apart from a few slips against Milan, they’ve looked almost unstoppable.

Napoli can now enjoy the final games of this season with a smile on their faces and over 55,000 fans are expected to attend their evening clash with Fiorentina, their first home game since the confirmed Scudetto.

Speaking to Medianordest, Spalletti discussed what Napoli’s Scudetto success means to him personally.

“Napoli’s Scudetto is a historic event, it is something that goes out of the box. An event from which everyone in the industry and not just those at Napoli benefit. Napoli deserves it but also all of our football.

“In general, the city deserves this Scudetto. I never stopped believing for a moment that it could have happened, but even if I hadn’t won it, I would have been satisfied with what this journey had given me to then become the coach of Napoli.

“I felt flooded by the feeling of the Napoli fans. At this moment here I feel fulfilled, I feel happy and calm to have given so much happiness to the Napoli fans. That’s the fundamental thing, that’s the real happiness. To have made so many people happy, to have given joy to all those who love Napoli.”

Napoli’s squad market value has now shot up to over €600m and many of their players, like Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-Jae, are expected to be key figures in the upcoming summer transfer window as clubs across Europe look to fight for their signatures.
