David Pizarro claims he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Luciano Spalletti returned to Roma for a third tenure as coach.
Serie A remains suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, and Pizarro was asked whether the season should eventually be allowed to resume.
“The season is over for me. What’s the point of continuing while people suffer?” he told Corriere dello Sport.
“The Scudetto should be sewn onto the lab coats of doctors who risk their lives to save us.”

The former Chile midfielder played over 200 games for Roma between 2006 and 2012, and he admits the Giallorossi’s ownership situation is holding them back.
“I don’t understand Roma. Sometimes they’re extraordinary, sometimes they lose themselves in nonsense.
“The ownership situation certainly doesn’t help. It’s not clear who is in control: London, Trigoria, United States. Now you have these negotiations…”
The 40-year-old then revealed how he became attracted to the club.
“It’s simple. I was bewitched the first time, entering the Olimpico. It was the year of their Scudetto.
“I went to the bench and I saw Totti score that goal on the volley against us, Udinese.”
Spalletti famously fell out with Francesco Totti during his second spell at the Olimpico but is still out of work since leaving Inter last year…
“I don’t know, but I’m still stunned and sorry it happened. When we were all together, at our family-run Roma, they had a special relationship. I would say, privileged even.
“Certainly it’s a shame, Luciano really cared about the Giallorossi: things should’ve ended differently.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Spalletti went back one day.”
