Luciano Spalletti and countless fans arrived at Campidoglio in Rome today to pay tribute to Sinisa Mihajlovic, who sadly passed away this week.

The 53-year-old former coach died on Friday after a three-year battle with leukaemia, prompting an outpouring of love and support for the Serbian from across the footballing world. Ever a fiery character, Mihajlovic was a modern legend of Serie A and his death has brought together many in the closing stages of 2022.

A funeral chamber was set up for Mihajlovic at Campidoglio in Rome today and hundreds have already visited to pay tribute to the former defender, including Napoli coach Spalletti, president of the Italian senate Ignazio La Russa and countless fans, who were already queuing up in the early hours of the morning. 

Many tears were shed in the funeral chamber, highlighting the importance of Mihajlovic to many in the footballing world. The former Bologna coach’s funeral will take place on Monday at 10am UK time at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri.
