Fiorentina Coach Paulo Sousa believes his team are still developing and improving ahead of their match with Sampdoria.

The Viola have lost just two of their opening 10 Serie A games of the season, though some disappointing draws have kept them from being closer to the top of the League.

“We have respect for our opponents but I am focused on us,” Sousa said of a Blucerchiati team who have shown improvement in recent weeks.

“We need to solve the problems. Giampaolo is one of the Coaches I appreciate the most, for his way of approaching games in an offensive way.

“Samp will play to win, last year we had problems against them and I see a team in good health who have recovered important players.

“We are also developing and we are motivated. We are growing a lot, we are determined and we will keep working because there are still margins for improvement.”

Sousa then expressed his belief that the standard of Serie A as a whole is improving, despite the Italian top flight having its detractors.

“There are a lot of teams in the part of the table that is fighting for Europe. Then, there are those who are fighting for the Scudetto, those who can invest more.

“I would also say Serie A is developing. Lazio and Torino have improved a lot and will fight for high places. Then there is Atalanta, who are doing a great job with youngsters.”
