“We’ll see a different side, because we’re facing an Empoli team with a similar identity and style of football to ours, so that means extra concentration is key,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“My team is growing and so are the results, both in terms of chances created and goals. We need to find consistency of victories to really compete at a high level. We have to be more consistent in front of goal and not make the same mistakes at the back that force us to recover from bad situations.

“I am concentrated on our principles of football, on and off the ball, showing concentration and determination. We must believe that every chance is in our hands and we can convert it.

“I am positive, because I’ve always said this team needs to grow in terms of character during certain spells of the match. We want to be higher up the table and have dropped a few too many points over the last few weeks.”

Empoli have in their ranks Manuel Pasqual, who did not get along with Sousa and left after a decade at Fiorentina.

“I respect and salute everyone. I am not the person who decides who leaves and who stays,” replied the Coach.

Sousa was also asked about the on-going negotiations for a contract extension in Florence.

“I speak regularly to the directors, but my future depends on results. If the results come, then the future will be positive for both of us. We want to do what’s best for Fiorentina and that’s all about results.”
