“Our second half performance was much better than the first, but our attitude and intensity must improve. We allowed Chievo counter-attacks even when they were a man down,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“We created the opportunities to score, but were unable to finish them off. I am happy with the result and that we managed to get the victory without another 30 minutes of football.
“In fact, we had to run more in the second half with an extra man than in the first, but at least it shows our legs are in good shape.”
Nikola Kalinic started despite reports he is considering a €45m transfer to China.
“Some of the decisions he made on the pitch were not the best today, but like everyone he can make some mistakes. Nobody can doubt his effort. I know how important he is for the team and as long as I consider him to be the best choice for the game we’re playing, I will continue to use him.
“With the extra man we could’ve preserved some energy today and scored earlier to consolidate the victory. We didn’t control the initiative the way we should’ve done, but all this does not worry us.”
