“We prepared for this game in more or less the same way as any other,” assured the Coach in a Press conference.

“It is a pleasure for me to be working in Italy and knowing talented colleagues who make important decisions at a high level. Thanks to this experience I get the opportunity to improve. It’s also thanks to Maurizio Sarri, who is doing so well with a team in great shape.

“It is fundamental for a Coach to believe in his team. If you want to do something and aren’t convinced, you are going to get stuck midway. Clarity of ideas is also important, as we must have logic behind everything we do. We also have to sustain the creativity of the individual and experiment. Naturally, winning games gives you even more confidence.”

Despite the fact Fiorentina are top of the table, pundits and supporters expect Napoli to be more genuine Scudetto contenders.

“It’s only normal, as we’re talking about the culture and history of a club. Napoli were built to win Scudetti and they can do it this year, but we can all improve and are working together to earn national credibility.

“I don’t believe that being Serie A leaders gives you responsibility, but rather it brings happiness! Other teams are better-equipped, including Napoli. They have an excellent squad, but we must recognise our qualities and our limitations. We can compete.

“This game will be won by who manages to keep possession better. The players are ready for a series of matches and we’re still working on transitions between defence and attack.

“I believe games are won with mentality and what we do on the field. We must continue working, as being leaders doesn’t bring problems or extra responsibility. We should simply be happy about it.

“To win tomorrow we must command the game and be protagonists, as it’s the only way to counter Napoli’s quality.

“There will be many fans travelling with us tomorrow and we want to make our voices heard at the San Paolo.”
