President of the Italian Footballers' Association Damiano Tommasi believes the recent Inter-Wesley Sneijder spat is just a 'misunderstanding'.

The Dutch midfielder has rejected a new contract from the Nerazzurri with a reduced salary, with the club since refusing to play the 28-year-old.

But the AIC head is of the opinion that the blame cannot be put all on one side.

“It seems to me that the contract matter is clear,” he told a Press conference. “The Coach and the player have spoken.

“And although some of the statements released by the club have created a misunderstanding, you cannot blame the club, or the player, entirely.

“I refused to believe that each side wants to do damage to the other.”
