The Dutchman was essentially pushed out of the club in January when he refused to sign a new contract lowering his €6m per season wages.

After links with numerous different sides, he eventually joined Turkish outfit Galatasaray and was asked about Inter in today’s Press conference.

“I don’t want to say anything about the Nerazzurri,” replied Sneijder. “I will just say this: See where I am? I have to play a Champions League quarter-final.

“I am very happy at Galatasaray, we have a great squad and I settled in very well. Coming here was a step forward, not back.”

Inter were knocked out of the Europa League in the Round of 16 by Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Sneijder is eager to meet up with his old Coach Jose Mourinho in tomorrow’s match.

“It was all so wonderful and unique with Jose at Inter. Playing against him tomorrow will be incredible, but on the field we are enemies for only one day.”
