The Nerazzurri are revamping their look in an effort to lower the average age of the squad and wage bill after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

A host of players from their Treble winning year have gone or are on their way out, but the Dutchman looks set to stay.

“I, actually we, are happy that Wes is here with us,” the summer signing from Genoa told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Everything is much easier on the pitch with him in the side. Sneijder is the head of this team – he makes everyone play well.

“If Sneijder plays in the manner that he knows how then, as a consequence, Inter as a whole play better.”

Palacio is a versatile attacking player, but he has clear ideas regarding where he believes his best position is.

“I have never hidden the fact that when I’m used as a second striker, close to a centre-forward with the freedom to move, then I give more,” he noted.
