Galatasaray have revealed the hold-up with Wesley Sneijder is because “he must resolve a €2m problem with Inter and cannot join another club.”

The Turkish side has already agreed a transfer fee, but there are reports the midfielder is stalling on the deal to invite Premier League sides like Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to step in.

“Sneijder has to resolve a €2m problem with Inter,” director of sport Bulent Tulun told Radyospor.

“There is an agreement between Galatasaray and the player’s entourage. Based on the clause we signed, until February 5 the player cannot join another club.”

This would suggest that the delay is based not on an issue of wages or accepting the Galatasaray option, but rather that Inter should pay him €2m as a ‘golden handshake.’
