Reports from the Trigoria ground today confirm Smalling was still training separately from the rest of the group, so won’t be available this weekend.
It also puts him in real doubt to feature in Thursday’s Europa League encounter with Istanbul Basaksehir.
Roma are already missing Cengiz Under, Davide Zappacosta and Diego Perotti, all with muscular issues.
