Salvatore Sirigu thinks he made the correct decision to join PSG from Palermo, saying it has been a good life experience.

The 27-year-old swapped Sicily for Paris in 2011 and has since won two Ligue 1 titles and a French League Cup.

Speaking at a Press conference today, Italy’s substitute goalkeeper believes Italian players moving abroad helps give more exposure to football in the peninsula.

“Compared to the past we need to help Italian football’s exposure abroad,” Sirigu told the media.

“My choice was PSG because they were a growing club and I was right.

“Abroad you can have a different life experience. I would advise young players to go to a competitive team, whether that be abroad or within Italy.

“The fact you are playing in the Champions League in a team going for victory gives you a different mentality. It allows you to deal with a different kind of pressure.

“I am getting used to important matches and I am lucky to do that. But a World Cup is always a World Cup.”

Sirigu then answered questions on the favourite save of his performance against England on Saturday, as well as speculation linking Azzurri teammate Antonio Candreva with a move to join him at the French champions.

“I haven’t spoken to Candreva about this possibility. If he asks me I will give him my opinion of the club, but let’s not talk about the transfer market.

“We are so focused on the World Cup that we don’t want to think about the future.

“With the Baines free-kick [against England], I had to react at the last moment. Defensively I saw a compact team that didn’t want to be surprised.

“I saw a team that wanted to win and to do it, they sacrificed a lot and gave the maximum. Compared to the recent friendlies we showed more aggression.”
